Me and my flatmate, Ryan, spend the vast majority of our time chatting shit about movies. Theorizing, bitching, laughing, hyping, to the extent where both of our sleep schedules are completely and utterly obliterated. We’re both extremely critical of film and TV, yet share an understanding in the need to bask in the sheer awesomeness that is storytelling. We take franchises such as Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Game of Thrones and more for granted. Specifically, we all just need to recognise that films are sick.
Which is what our new YouTube series is going to do. I’ve wanted to cover movie news and movie talk on my channel for a long time, yet doing it alone has always felt so dull. I don’t think that would interest people. It was nothing short of a lightbulb idea that went off in my head last week when I realised that Ryan and I had been doing the exact thing which I think people may be interested in watching. There are an absolute wealth of movie talk shows on YouTube, many of them the same concept: paid adults sat around a table recycling some generic fan screeches they got off of Twitter. I hope we can offer something different. We also hit our diversity quota, so we’re definitely great.
While our setup is not as professional as the more popular movie shows (indeed, it’s nowhere near as professional), I think we can create something that could be just as popular and engaging, due to our infectious, sickening passion for movies. We’re gonna keep it simple, and I hope it catches on.
But for now, you’ll just have to whet your appetites with this little teaser we recorded. Enjoy!
No, the light exploding wasn’t staged. That headlight, which has served me well for almost 4 years, is now blown to bits. Well, the bulb is. Now I need to buy some new lights. Bugger.
